Benefits of Breast Enhancement for Metropolitan New York: Manhattan, Long Island, Westchester
Breast augmentation, also known as augmentation mammoplasty, is one of the most popular cosmetic plastic surgery procedures performed in NYC—Manhattan, Long Island, and Westchester—and worldwide. This surgical procedure enhances the breast size, shape, and profile through breast implants or autologous fat transfer. At Cosmoplastic Surgery, board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Kaveh Alizadeh specializes in breast augmentation in New York and firmly believes there is no single, universally successful approach to enhancing a woman's breast appearance.
Instead, the best results stem from listening carefully to each patient's desires and honestly evaluating her needs, body type, and lifestyle to customize results that bring her satisfaction, pride in her new appearance, and improved self-confidence.
In Dr. Alizadeh's many years of practice, he has found that, although each patient is unique, most women request breast augmentation because they are bothered by similar issues: underdeveloped breasts; sagging, deflated breasts from pregnancy and breastfeeding; or asymmetrical, uneven breasts. Others simply desire fuller, shapelier, and more feminine-looking breasts. Regardless of the reason for requesting the procedure, our Cosmoplastic Surgery breast augmentation patients tell us repeatedly that they love their new breasts and feel proud to show them off—in public and in private.

During your consultation for breast augmentation, Dr. Alizadeh will set aside plenty of time to learn exactly what bothers you about your breasts. Are they small and boyish looking? Are they asymmetrical or poorly shaped, such as tuberous breasts? Did they lose volume and begin sagging following pregnancy and breastfeeding? Dr. Alizadeh uses all of this information—plus years of experience, training, and a natural eye for aesthetic balance and proportion—to help you determine your desired breast shape, size, and profile (how far your breasts project from the chest). For patients with excessive ptosis, or sagging, he may also recommend combining breast augmentation with NaturaBra™ Breast Lift for optimal results.
During your consultation, you will discuss the many options you have for your breast augmentation procedure:
Dr. Alizadeh will also evaluate your natural breast tissue, body size, and frame to customize your breast augmentation surgery for enhanced, proportional, and beautiful breasts that look and feel natural.
During your breast augmentation consultation, Dr. Alizadeh and his staff will offer different tools for helping you decide on an implant size and shape. In addition to showing before-and-after photos, we will encourage you to wear different implant sizers in your bra and take advantage of our state-of-the-art Vectra 3-D imaging and simulation system to visualize your personalized end results prior to surgery. With this system, you will also be able to virtually "try on" different shapes and sizes and view your results. We go to great lengths to make sure you settle on the best breast implant shape and size for your needs.
Finally, during your breast augmentation consultation Dr. Alizadeh and his staff will explain in detail every aspect of your surgery, from pre-operative preparation to aftercare instructions, so that you are fully prepared for your important day.
Dr. Alizadeh performs breast augmentation surgery as an outpatient procedure in a boutique operating room alongside an experienced, board-certified anesthesiologist and surgical nurse. From start to finish, the entire procedure requires a few hours, and patients can expect to return home the same day.
While there are many strategies when it comes to the breast augmentation surgery, Dr. Alizadeh uses either a submuscular or muscle-sparing technique that he has developed, called NaturaPlane, which utilizes a natural plane between the breast tissue and the muscle layer to allow the implant to look natural without sacrificing any muscle function. This is a great option for thin, athletic women who do not want to compromise muscle function for their breast enhancement. Please make sure you seek Dr. Alizadeh's opinion about this innovative approach to breast augmentation in New York.
Recovery following breast augmentation surgery usually takes less than one week, and during this time you should expect some swelling and tenderness in your chest. Dr. Alizadeh and his staff will provide specific aftercare instructions, including wearing a support bra for several weeks to promote healing and ensure optimal implant position. You will be able to go out immediately after breast augmentation surgery and take a shower the very next day. There are no stitches to remove and your incisions will be hidden in your natural folds and contours. You must avoid lifting anything heavier than a bag of sugar, including small children, for about three weeks. You will see your new shape immediately after your breast augmentation, and you can begin to enjoy your new appearance. Most patients return to daily function within 24 hours and physical activity within one week.
Dr. Alizadeh and his Cosmoplastic Surgery staff are committed to helping you recover safely and without incident during the post-operative period. He will provide specific instructions for what to do and whom to call if you have questions, and he and his team will stand with you 100 percent of the way. You will be contacted within 24 hours of your breast augmentation and will remain in close contact with the office for the first two weeks. You will also have our personal cell phone numbers, and we may even make a house visit for your comfort. You will be followed weekly and then monthly, usually for a minimum of one year after surgery to make sure you are satisfied with your outcome
Though Dr. Alizadeh is skilled at giving patients the size and projection they want by employing techniques he developed over years of research and practice, breast augmentation and a breast lift are technically two different procedures. Implants are designed to add volume to the breast, while a lift corrects sagging that causes the breasts to hang or even point downward.
Steps to make breasts both larger and perkier can be combined into one procedure. Talk to Dr. Alizadeh and his team to discover which techniques may be best suited for providing the desired results.
Many doctors can technically perform the steps necessary for a safe and successful augmentation, but not all doctors have the same level of experience, industry recognition, innovation, and artistic eye. Since this is a surgery designed to change the patient’s appearance, great care must be taken to create an end result that is balanced and proportional with the entire body. It is not enough to merely make a woman’s breasts larger—the process must be well considered from start to finish and beyond.
With this in mind, Dr. Alizadeh constantly strives to set himself apart from other doctors offering breast augmentation. In addition to participating in clinical trials for breast implants, serving as a medical advisor to all implant manufacturers, including Sientra, Mentor, and Allergan, and authoring articles for plastic and reconstructive journal publication, he:

Many women come to Dr. Alizadeh to add volume to their breasts for a straightforward cosmetic change, but there are two motivators that involve implants inserted for more complex reasons: dissatisfaction due to prior surgery and damage to the breasts due to surgery, injury, or disease.
While the techniques employed in these cases are unique, they involve much of the same basics as typical breast augmentation.
For breast reconstruction, the patient may require only one implant, or two of different sizes. Dr. Alizadeh may also determine fat transfer to be the most appropriate solution.
For breast revision, Dr. Alizadeh may remove one or both implants and put new ones in their place, while reinforcing the soft tissue with acellular dermal matrix such as Alloderm, Atria, Strattice, or Mesobiomatrix. Women who seek revision may also simply want a different size, or to change out older implants for newer ones that have more modern features.
The décolletage is often exposed to the sun, so the skin there may reveal damage over time. Breakdowns in collagen and elastin, whether due to ultraviolet radiation or the simple passage of time, can leave skin loose, wrinkly, and spotted. A range of skin rejuvenation options, including laser skin resurfacing skin tightening, are available. Since these are not surgical procedures, the treatments often require no downtime afterward, with the ideal results visible in the weeks and months after a session or series of sessions, once the skin has been stimulated to produce a sufficient amount of new collagen and other beneficial elements.
In some cases, patients who want a breast augmentation or lift are seeking the surgery because of changes to their breast size and shape after major weight loss. Using minimally invasive techniques, Dr. Alizadeh may enhance the superior pole or the cleavage, using fat grafting after careful consultation with the patient. These women may want to address more than their chest, especially if volume loss and sagging have visually impacted other areas. Overall body contouring is available, as are arm and thigh lifts, buttock lifts, and tummy tuck. Patients looking to lose stubborn pockets of fat along the bra line and elsewhere will find several variations of liposuction to choose from.
