How Reducing Breast Size Can Benefit New York Women
Breast reduction surgery, also known as reduction mammoplasty, can bring tremendous relief to the NYC area women who suffer from uncomfortably large breasts. At Cosmoplastic Surgery, board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Kaveh Alizadeh performs breast reduction surgery to diminish neck and back pain, thoracic outlet syndrome, skeletal deformities, bra shoulder-strap grooving, skin rashes or irritation, and excessive sweating under the breasts.
In addition to the practical advantages, breast reduction can also deliver aesthetic and psychological benefits:
Our patients tell us that breast reduction changed their lives and boosted their self-esteem by bringing their breasts into better proportion with their entire body, creating a more balanced, attractive aesthetic. According to published literature, among patients who choose elective plastic surgery, those who have breast reduction report the highest rate of satisfaction overall.
For your breast reduction consultation, you will meet with Dr. Alizadeh, who serves as Chief of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Westchester Medical Center and Associate Professor of Surgery at New York Medical College. After a thorough discussion and examination, Dr. Alizadeh will perform an assessment of your breast parameters with the help of VECTRA® 3D Analysis, which enables you to see a simulated image of potential surgical results. He will then explain in detail the following options so that together you can create a treatment plan to meet your needs:
Dr. Alizadeh has spent years perfecting his technique for breast reduction surgery to minimize breast reduction scars, reduce recovery time, and improve the overall breast appearance following surgery. He combines traditional, proven surgical techniques with innovative, FDA-approved biomedical materials such as acellular dermal matrices or tissue scaffolding, constantly striving to achieve the safest, most aesthetically appealing outcomes for his patients. It's his passion.

With Dr. Alizadeh's team for breast reduction surgery, you can expect the highest level of professionalism, hands-on care, surgical excellence, and rapid recovery. Dr. Alizadeh performs all surgical procedures in fully equipped, state-of-the-art facilities certified by the Joint Commission for Accreditation of Hospital Organizations or the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities, Inc. He works closely with a trusted, experienced, board-certified anesthesiologist who will oversee your entire procedure to ensure your safety and rapid recovery from anesthesia.

Your surgery will begin with a circular incision around the nipple, or areola, and a straight, vertical incision from the areola to the base of the breast. Patients with larger breasts may also need an additional horizontal incision along the base of the breast to remove all of the loose skin that surrounds the extra breast tissue. Once Dr. Alizadeh has removed the breast tissue, fat, and excess skin, he may, depending on your individual needs, insert a breast implant for additional shape or tissue scaffolding for long-term support. He then closes the incisions with absorbable sutures or biological glues so that there is no need to remove any stitches later on, and patients can shower the day after surgery. He also uses long-acting anesthetics such as EXPAREL® to help maximize your recovery and comfort.
Most patients are able to return to common daily activities and non-lifting jobs within a week following surgery. You should refrain from all vigorous activity for up to six weeks. Dr. Alizadeh and his staff will provide detailed pre- and post-surgical instructions prior to surgery. Results from breast reduction are permanent, but many patients find that weight loss, weight gain, or pregnancy do alter their results. Aging and gravity may also affect your long-term outcomes.
