What is a mommy makeover?

A mommy makeover is a custom set of procedures performed during the same surgical session. Typically the mommy makeover procedures are a tummy tuck and breast surgery.

Pregnancy can stretch and weaken the abdominal muscles, leaving them separated, which can’t be addressed without a surgical procedure. Pregnancy and nursing can leave the breasts deflated, sagging, or otherwise changed. While a healthy diet and exercise program can help mothers achieve some of their physical goals, surgery is needed to restore breast volume and/or achieve a youthful lift and sculpt a tight, firm abdominal area.

During a mommy makeover in Long Island, Dr. Alizadeh may include breast surgery (breast augmentation, breast lift, breast reduction), abdominoplasty (known as a tummy tuck), liposuction (on the thighs, waist, and other areas), labiaplasty, and skin rejuvenation. Whatever your aesthetic needs are, Dr. Alizadeh will customize your mommy makeover and design a personalized surgical plan to meet your aesthetic goals.

Both of these procedures provide beautiful, long-lasting outcomes. The Naturatuck™ is performed with Dr. Alizadeh’s innovative technique, which achieves beautiful results and a far easier recovery period.

With Dr. Alizadeh’s unique and innovative techniques, scars are minimized, and the aesthetic, feminine figure is revealed. Mommy makeovers in Long Island with Dr. Alizadeh result in an incredible ten-year follow-up satisfaction rate.

What procedures are included in a mommy makeover?

A mommy makeover may include many a range of different procedures. Because a mommy makeover is designed specifically for your needs and aesthetic goals, the procedures included may be varied. The following procedures are popularly included during a mommy makeover with Dr. Alizadeh.

Breast Enhancement

Breast surgery is almost always included as a part of a mommy makeover. This may include breast augmentation with implants or fat transfer, a breast lift, or a breast reduction.

Women who choose breast augmentation with implants will be able to choose the type of implants, including size, shape, texture, projection, and implant placement. For breast augmentation with fat transfer, women can choose the area of their body that they would like to have sculpted, and unwanted fat will be removed from there, then purified and injected into the breasts. For women who prefer a breast lift with their breast augmentation, Dr. Alizadeh will combine these breast surgeries to offer patients the dual benefits of the procedures.

Tummy tuck

A tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty, is a very common procedure performed in a mommy makeover. This procedure achieves a tighter, leaner abdominal area while at the same time strengthening the abdominal muscles. Dr. Alizadeh's unique NaturaTuck™ tummy tuck surgery removes unwanted fat and loose skin and uses progressive-tension sutures to strengthen the abdominal wall.

With certain patients, Dr. Alizadeh can perform the “no pain/no drain” procedure, which reduces the need for drains and achieves a faster recovery period.

Buttock lift

Women who have a flattened or sagging bottom after having children may wish to have a "butt lift." Dr. Alizadeh performs his NaturaCurve™ technique to achieve a round, curving bottom, augmented with their own fat, harvested from another place on the body where there is excess fat. This procedure replaces skin laxity with round, projecting volume.

Liposuction is a common procedure requested after having children, as the body tends to form and hang onto fat pockets in different areas. Liposuction can be performed on the body, neck, and face, addressing the jawline, thighs, hips, bra area, back, upper arms, and other locations where stubborn fat accumulates.

Other options

Other common options for a mommy makeover include labiaplasty, laser treatments, and other non-surgical treatments. During your consultation with Dr. Alizadeh, you will discuss your aesthetic concerns and goals, and he will help you determine which procedures you want to include in your mommy makeover.

What can I expect during a mommy makeover?

Dr. Alizadeh begins with a thoughtful, in-depth consultation to learn about your aesthetic concerns and desires. Dr. Alizadeh will perform a physical exam of your body, including a thorough review of your medical history. From there, he will design a custom surgical treatment plan based on your discussion. Dr. Alizadeh will answer all of your questions about the procedures you want and walk you through the details of your procedure so that you feel confident moving forward and know what to expect and feel confident.

Your mommy makeover will be performed under general anesthesia administered by our board-certified anesthesiologist. You will be perfectly relaxed and comfortable throughout your treatment and feel no pain.

Dr. Alizadeh will follow your surgical plan, performing each procedure with care and expertise. He makes conservative incisions to minimize post-operative scarring. His work is done precisely to reduce your risk of complications. Once your incisions are closed, compression garments will be placed over the treatment areas. You will be taken to our state-of-the-art recovery suites, where you will be monitored until you wake up and are ready to return home.

What is recovery like after a mommy makeover?

After your mommy makeover is complete, you will be able to return home with a family member or friend. Ensure you have someone with you who can help you at home with chores and caring for your children as you recover. You will not be able to exert yourself or lift anything heavy.

There will be significant swelling and bruising, which will slowly begin to fade after about one week. Swelling will slowly continue to diminish over the course of several weeks, and in some cases, several months.

Keep your compression garments in place. These help to minimize swelling and keep your newly shaped body healing well. Drains may be placed to ensure excess fluids don’t build up. These will generally be removed after about a week or two.

Do not exercise or exert yourself for 4-6 weeks, and wait for clearance from Dr. Alizadeh. Dr. Alizadeh will encourage you to take light walks to help improve circulation and improve your spirits as you heal. Most mommy makeover patients can return to light, sedentary work within 2-3 weeks.

Mommy Makeover FAQs

What are the risks involved with a mommy makeover?

The risks of a mommy makeover are similar to most surgeries. Risks include bleeding, infection, anesthesia risks, temporary numbness, scarring, unfavorable results, and poor wound healing.

Can I have more children after a mommy makeover?

You will still be able to physically have more children after your mommy makeover. However, another pregnancy will likely compromise your aesthetic results. Dr. Alizadeh asks women to wait to have a mommy makeover until they feel they are done having children. If you do get pregnant after your mommy makeover, Dr. Alizadeh will perform revision procedures to revitalize your results.

How much does a mommy makeover cost in Long Island?

A mommy makeover, including a breast lift and tummy tuck, surgeon's fee starts at $30,0000 with Dr. Alizadeh. Fee does not include surgery center fees or anesthesia fees. This price may vary based on your customized surgical plan and personal cosmetic goals.

Will I lose sensation in my nipples after the breast lift?

Depending on the technique used, your nipple sensation may become compromised. Dr. Alizadeh will discuss this with you and adjust his technique to ensure your nipple sensation remains intact by choosing incisions that do not disturb the nipple-areolar complex.
